Last week was ever so busy. I am hoping it will be quieter this week, but I doubt it!
Two commissions were sent out last week. I have two more that I am working on – one that i hope will go to a new home this week, and one that requires a little more preparation before I can start the cutting. In addition to this, I have almost got the Christmas cards sorted – hopefully I will be able to tell you all about them this time next week. An an exciting new project involving fabric!
Anyway, back to the commissions. The first was a logo design for a new business. A small web design company, who needed an eye-catching logo. The company is called Green Pear Tree, and we wanted it to be like a prickly pear – so it seemed obvious what to do – although, prickly pears don’t actually grow on trees! So we had to use our imagination – no problem there for me, and fortunately not for the web designer either – she comes from a creative background and has plenty of vision. Working together we were able to come up with a fantastic solution. What do you think? The double tree works well as the image can be used as a whole, or split into two and used in different places, giving three possible images. Put a different background colour on the tree and you have infinite possibilities!
The second commission was a christening present – a special one as it was to be from the godmother. The client wanted something really original, and wanted to include many details about her godson – we chose to go with his name, symbols representing his middle names, his star sign symbols and the sweetest touch – two little rabbits as he was born in the Chinese year of the rabbit. We wanted it to appear in such a way that the viewer has to really study the piece in order to read it. Have a go, and tell me what you think his name, and two middle names, might be!
